Hockey Nunavut Territorial Championships


Female Territorial (1999 or later)                                           Iqaluit March 3 to 5, 2017

Bantam Territorial (2002-2003)                                             Iqaluit March 24 to 26, 2017

Midget Territorial (1999-2001)                                              Arviat March 3 to 5, 2017



-  Registration Deadline is February 3, 2017

-  Late submission will not be accepted

-  Maximum Roster size is 15 skaters and 2 Goalies

-  Partial Rosters will be accepted

-  2 Coaches allowed for teams of 9 or more


- Teams are required to book, pay and administer their own travel to and from the        tournament.

- There are no team or player fees.

- Hockey Nunavut will provide an Airfare Travel Subsidy to participating teams. The    amount of this subsidy will be confirmed after the registration deadline.  All players, coaches and bench staff must be registered with Hockey Nunavut.


These Championships are player identification events for AWG Tryout Camps to be held in the fall of 2017 to select Team Nunavut players for the 2018 Arctic Winter Games in the NWT. 


Registration Checklist

In order to participate in the 2017 Female, Bantam and Midget Hockey Territorial Championships the following steps must be completed. 
  • Fax or e-mail completed Hockey roster and registration to the Hockey Nunavut Registrar at 1-867-645-3319 or  - Deadline is Wednesday, Feb 3, 2017; late submission will not be accepted.

  • Teams are required to book, pay and administer their own travel to and from the tournament

  • There is no team or player fee

  • Hockey Nunavut will provide an airfare travel subsidy to participating teams; the amount of subsidy will be confirmed after the registration deadline.

  • Book flights with either First Air, Canadian North or Calm Air, Deadline is Wednesday, Feb 17, 2017

All teams, except the host team, are required to stay at the tournament accommodation location; there will be no exceptions.  Along with accommodation, meals and transportation will be provided to participating teams.

Arctic Winter Games 2018 Coaching Opportunities

South Slave (Fort Smith, Hay River), March 17 to 24, 2018

Hockey Nunavut is accepting expressions of interest from individuals interested in coaching positions for Nunavut’s 2018 Arctic Winter Games (AWG) Bantam (boys), Midgets (boys) and Under 19 Female programs.  Female games will be held in Fort Smith, Bantam/Midget games will be held in Hay River.

Interested individuals will be required to undergo a criminal record check and must possess a valid passport. You must be a Nunavut resident having resided in the Territory for a minimum of two years. Individuals should have a minimum of five years of coaching experience and hold a current Dev 1 Hockey Canada coaching certification. Individuals should specify whether they are interested in either the bantam, midget or female program. Some travel, generally over weekends, may be required.  

This is an exciting hockey opportunity and the chance to define your amateur coaching career. It is also represents a significant commitment of your time over the coming 18 months as coaches will need to assemble their player identification framework for the upcoming Nunavut Territorial Championships: Bantam (Iqaluit, March), Female (Iqaluit, March) and Midget (Arviat, March) and develop selection camp plans (October / November 2017) where final player selections will be made.
